The “Vikings” Marching Band entertained thousands of Walt Disney World Resort guests with its performance at Magic Kingdom on Dec. 12. The marching band, alongside Director Aidan Giannelli, paraded down iconic Main Street U.S.A., with all its holiday decor, playing festive songs that captured the holiday spirit. During their 3-day stay, the students also enjoyed exploring Walt Disney World Resort and its theme parks.
“It’s probably the best trip we’ve ever done,” said Giannelli. “As a music teacher, I love the professionalism and the way Disney operates; so it’s a nice way to show my students how Disney is an example of what you really want to emulate.”
Additionally, the young artists immersed themselves in “You’re Instrumental!,” a Disney Performing Arts workshop where students learn sight-reading techniques, performance concepts, and the process for laying down music tracks. The workshop culminates with a reveal of their hard work – a screening of the recorded score, set to the original Disney film footage!
The group of 47 students traveled over 1,000 miles from New Jersey to Florida to participate in the popular program. This was the school’s seventh visit to Walt Disney World Resort with Disney Performing Arts.
Vocal, instrumental and dance ensembles from all around the world apply to perform each year as part of Disney Performing Arts at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. Once selected, they are given the opportunity to perform amongst an international audience of Disney theme park guests. Millions of performers have graced the stages of Disney Parks in its more than 25-year history of the program.
