WELCOME TO VOORHEES HIGH SCHOOL LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS WEBSITE FOR THE SENIOR CLASS
Each year Voorhees High School seniors are fortunate to receive a number of local scholarships through the generosity of various local clubs and organizations. Criteria vary but usually include some reference to financial status, academic performance, activities and/or major. Interpretation of these criteria is relative and depends entirely upon who is making the decision.
The scholarship listings are accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the current date.
APPLICATION DEADLINES: Column D is the deadline column. It will indicate when the scholarship is due. **Please make sure all copies and documents that are required are included with your applications.
If the deadline information says: Submit to Ms. Grilli-DeRobbio by 02/01/25 via email, then the application needs to be submitted that day. Late applications will not be accepted.
If the deadline column for a scholarship indicates a date and reference to “send to sponsor,” you must send your application directly to the sponsor by that date.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLYING
Step 1: Read through the scholarships, review the requirements of each scholarship carefully, and apply to the ones you meet the criteria for. Scholarships will be posted as they are received, please check back periodically. Bi-weekly is best. New postings will be added to the bottom of the Scholarship List.
Step 2: The scholarship deadline, application (Local Scholarship Application versus Scholarship Organization Application), and Scholarship Criteria/Eligibility & Supplemental Requirements are listed for each individual scholarship for you to view and apply to. Complete the Local Scholarship Application for the scholarship(s) that require it by clicking on the “Local Scholarship Application and Cover Sheet,” link for that individual scholarship. You will open it with “Annotate with Kami,” so you can type directly onto the application and then save it. You will be able to send it via email as an attachment for submission. Please note: financial need is based on the income information you provide on the Local Scholarship Application and supplemental information you provide. If you choose not to supply this information, you will be disqualified from all scholarships based on financial need.
- If the scholarship’s criteria/eligibility & supplemental requirement indicates you need a transcript or the website for a scholarship indicates that you need a transcript, complete the Local Scholarship Transcript Request Form. It is listed in the Local Scholarship Application for the scholarship. It is also listed here. You will open it with “Annotate with Kami,” so you can type directly onto the form and then save it. You will be able to send it via email as an attachment for submission. Please email the request to Mrs. Turkus in the Counseling Department Office a few days in advance of the deadline you are completing an application for to allow time for it to be processed and sent to you.
Please note:
- Some scholarships will indicate “academics” as a qualifier and will use the GPA rather than a transcript.
- Follow the directions. Include all supplemental requirements that are listed in the individual scholarship(s) criteria/eligibility & supplemental requirements column with your application. This may include: necessary essays, copy of FAFSA, reference letter (indicate on the cover sheet what letter you want sent from SCOIR), or other items required. If the scholarship is asking about community service, please include a list of your activities.
PLEASE REMEMBER: Follow all directions for each scholarship and keep a copy of the list of scholarships that you have applied for. Some scholarships are not decided until May. Students are responsible for gathering required recommendations. You can usually use a recommendation that was written for a college application.
