Hello 2020-21 AP Students and Parents,
Students enrolled in an AP class this year may take an AP Exam in May 2021 to qualify for college credit. There have been changes to the AP registration process and timeline from prior years.
First, you need to have a College Board Account. For many of you, you already have this. Your same College Board account log in is used for PSAT, SAT and AP, so if you have ever created an account for one of these, you have it done. Please do not create a 2nd account. If you do, it could prevent all of your SAT scores or AP scores from going to the correct college.
You can create an account or verify that you have an account at www.collegeboard.org. Here are some helpful hints for setting up your account or verifying the information if you already have an account:
- Make sure it is the student’s name that is on the account and NOT a parent’s name.
- The student must have their own e-mail address associated with their account. If you forget your log in, College Board will send you an e-mail to reset it, so you have to be able to get the e-mail. This shouldn’t be a parent’s e-mail address. If you already have an account, please check this and change it if necessary.
- If you have problems with your account, please contact College Board.
- Please put your College Board log in somewhere in your phone – in the notes or a photo of the username and password. You will use this multiples times in high school, so you’ll want to remember it.
AP Exam Payment and Registration – Each exam is $95 with the exception of AP Seminar which costs $143. Students can begin purchasing their exams September 8 through October 30 via Total Registration at https://user.totalregistration.net/AP/310005.
At the end of the process in Total Registration you will see a confirmation page which will include the information needed to complete the second step of enrolling courses/exams in the College Board’s system, https://myap.collegeboard.org/login. This step should be completed right away as exams will only be ordered if both steps are completed.
Late and Cancellation Fees – AP Exams ordered between October 31 and November 13 will pay a $20 late fee per exam in addition to the cost of the exam. For those ordering after November 14, there is a $40 late fee per exam in addition to the regular exam fee until March 6, 2020 when AP exam registration is closed. There are no fees for test cancellations this year.
Please let me know if you have any questions regarding AP registration.
Thank you,
Yulee Kim
