April 16, 2020
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students:
Today Governor Murphy announced that all public schools in New Jersey will remain closed until at least Friday, May 15th, with another update to be provided next month. This means that we will continue virtual learning through May 15th and continue to follow our daily rotation schedule and two-hour delayed opening bell schedule. Virtual learning will begin again on Monday, April 20th as we return from Spring Recess.
I have received questions regarding certain school events and whether they will be rescheduled. We recognize that spring is a particularly busy time with many school events on the calendar. We are discussing alternative plans for missed events, like prom and potentially graduation, as well as holding other events virtually if we are unable to hold in-person ceremonies. Please be assured that we do recognize that many students are missing out on experiences from academic to athletic to artistic. We will do our best to make the end of the 2019-2020 school year as memorable as we can and celebrate our students’ accomplishments.
I sincerely thank you again for working with us to implement virtual learning. It is important that we stay focused on our students’ education in addition to staying healthy in the coming weeks.
All of our administration, faculty and staff members continue to be available to you if you need any assistance throughout the rest of this school year. Please don’t hesitate to reach out. I hope you and your families are doing well during this time and are continuing to social distance and stay healthy.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey Bender
