Final exams will be optional for the 2020-2021 school year for students who have a passing final grade (D for seniors and 64 for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors) and who have already passed two marking periods in a semester course and three marking periods in a full-year course. Students will still need a passing grade for two of the major grading factors (marking periods and final exam) for a semester course and for three of the major grading factors (marking periods and final exam) for a full-year course in order to pass a class.
If students opt to not take the final exam, the final grade will be the average of the marking period grades. If students choose to take the final exam, the final exam will still count as 10% of the final grade for the course (with the remaining 90% being the average of the marking period grades).

If a student will not be taking either final exam on a given day, the student does not have to attend school. If, however, a student is in school during an exam block for which he/she is not participating due to transportation issues, the student will need to report to a designated area for quiet study. If the student is already in school and wishes to leave after the first exam block or wishes to come only for the second exam block, the student can only do so with a signed parental note. Parents may not pick-up students during an exam block as to not disrupt the testing environment. Students with a signed parental note will only be allowed to leave between the times of 9:50 a.m.- 9:55 a.m. or arrive at that time for the second exam block.
