Dear Parents/Guardians and Community:
The North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District strongly and unequivocally denounces racism in all forms.
The killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis and subsequent demonstrations, protests and social unrest across the country have once again brought the topics of racism and discrimination to the forefront of the news. We know that students are watching this news unfold and may have strong emotions and questions. Please take time to have an open discussion with your child about what is happening and the debilitating role that racism continues to play in our country. Though our buildings are physically closed, our school counselors remain available to you if you need support and guidance on how to have these discussions with your child.
Before our schools closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we had implemented initiatives to stop hate speech and to promote equality and positivity in our school culture. We remain committed to that goal and will continue our initiatives next school year and beyond.
During these challenging times, it is important that we continue to model and demonstrate our positive character traits such as respect, caring, compassion, empathy, and kindness. Our students watch what we do and we hope that they will follow our lead in treating others as we would want to be treated.
