Dear Parents/Guardians and Students:
As communicated to you earlier this month, the high school district is closely monitoring the COVID-19 weekly activity reports from the state so that when our region returns to the yellow Moderate Risk level we can bring more students into the school building for in-person instruction. We will not make any changes until our region stays in the yellow Moderate Risk level for at least two weeks so we know that region’s COVID-19 activity is indeed trending downward and will not fluctuate back and forth.
As of February 19th, our region has stayed in the yellow Moderate Risk level for COVID-19 activity for a second week in a row, therefore the new cohorts for hybrid students will go into effect on Monday, March 1, 2021, starting with Groups 1 & 2 (last names beginning with A to O) being in school for in-person instruction the week of March 1st.
In order to bring more students into the building each week, the student population will be split into three new cohorts for hybrid instruction as follows:
Group 1: Last Names A – G
Group 2: Last Names H – O
Group 3: Last Names P – Z
Under the new cohort designation, two of the three groups will be in school for in-person instruction each week with the other group on virtual instruction. Students will have in-person instruction for two consecutive weeks then one week of virtual instruction, resulting in more in-person instruction time. For example:
Week 1 – Groups 1 and 2
Week 2 – Groups 2 and 3
Week 3 – Groups 3 and 1
Week 4 – Groups 1 and 2
A new weekly calendar is posted on our Bell Schedule webpage that lists which students’ last names are in school for in-person instruction each week. Letters of last names are listed on the calendar instead of Group number, which we hope is less confusing. Click here for printable PDF copy of calendar.
The early dismissal bell schedule of 7:45am – 11:55am and the AM and PM Block days remain in effect at this time.
All virtual instruction remains an option for students. If your child is currently on all virtual instruction and would like to switch to hybrid instruction under the new cohorts, you must contact your child’s school counselor to request that change. Please note the change from all virtual to hybrid instruction will not go into effect for seven days.
We thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we progress through this quite unprecedented school year.
