The North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District has developed a Safe Return Plan for the 2021-2022 school year, which is a requirement of the American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency Relief Funds Application. The high school district will be returning to a traditional school year with full days until 2:25pm and following the rolling drop block schedule. All students will be returning to the building for full in-person instruction (virtual instruction is no longer an option for students per the expiration of the Governor’s Executive order that allowed virtual instruction as an alternative). All extra-curricular activities, cafeteria and transportation operations will run as in a traditional school year.
Click here to view the Safe Return Plan. Please read through the plan carefully as it details protocols for masks, physical distancing, cleaning and quarantining to name a few. This plan was developed following the guidance in The Road Forward document from the New Jersey Department of Education.
Some of the highlights are:
- Masks are mandatory in school no matter your vaccination status per Governor’s Executive Order 251. Masks are also required to be worn while riding the school bus no matter your student’s vaccination status as masks are required on public transportation.
- Physical distancing of three feet will be maintained to the greatest extent possible throughout the building (Note: a lack of physical distancing cannot preclude a school from opening per the NJ Department of Education). Students will be reminded to physically distance particularly in large group settings such as in cafeterias, study halls, etc.
- Daily pre-screening survey is not required this year, however, parents are requested to screen their child daily for symptoms and to not send their child to school if sick.
- Quarantining rules are still in effect for anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 (unvaccinated or vaccinated) and for unvaccinated individuals who have COVID-like symptoms or who are designated as a close contact. Quarantining rules are detailed in the plan.
We look forward to returning to a traditional school year for 2021-2022. More back to school information will be sent out in early August.
