Data Privacy and Protection

The District adheres to privacy and protection regulations, including:

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

FERPA is a federal law that gives parents and students certain rights regarding their educational records. The District has incorporated a description of parent and student rights under FERPA in District policies. The following District policies relate to FERPA:

  • Policy 8335 – Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
  • Policy 8330 – Student Records

Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA)

CIPA is a federal law that requires the measures are taken to protect children from obsene or harmful content over the Internet. All computers in the District, including student issued devices, have CIPA compliant filtering rules applied to them. The following District policy and regulation relate to CIPA:

  • Policy 2361 – Acceptable use of Computer Network/Computers and Resources
