As part of the 1:1/BYOD program, the following policies and guidelines have been create and/or revised:
- Acceptable Use Policies
- Mobile Device Agreements
- Student Mobile Device Guidelines
- Student Email Accounts -Guidelines
Acceptable Use Policies: The use of the devices by students is governed by BOE policy 2361 (ACCEPTABLE USE OF COMPUTER NETWORK/COMPUTERS AND RESOURCES – PUPILS) which already existed to govern the use of the school computer equipment prior to the 1:1 initiative. In addition, a new policy is being enacted by the BOE: Policy 7523 (School District Provided Technology Devices to Pupils) which cover some aspects not covered by Policy 2261, particularly the “Big Brother” Act of New Jersey (passed in 2013). Similar policies are also in place for staff (3321, 4321, 7522).
Mobile Device Agreements: These are actually forms that the parents and students that participate in this program need to fill out. A student that will use the District’s provided device should fill out a “Parent-Student Device Agreement” form. A student that will bring a personal Chromebook, needs to fill out a “Parent-Student BYOD Agreement” form. Both forms are available on this website.
Device and Email Guidelines: As part of the information provided to parents and students, we are including guidelines of use for both, the device provided to student and the district provided email accounts provided to students. These guidelines are available for everyone to review in the “Policies and Guidelines” section of this website:
