Attention to Senior Athletes planning to compete in Collegiate Athletics:
This time of year is when we normally do our College Signing Day Celebration. Even though we will be unable to meet in the Media Center and celebrate your future together, we would still like to recognize you.
I ask that you please send me a photo of yourself signing a letter of intent (mock one up) and send a picture of yourself signing on the bottom line while wearing some apparel from your future school. You can send me pictures posing with family members as well. I plan on tweeting these pictures all next week (May 18-29) to celebrate our seniors taking their talents to the next level. Also, I will use all the individual signing pictures to make a collage that will be framed in the Athletic Foyer outside the Gym to take the place of last year’s group photo.
You can email me the photos at this address, and in the body of the email, be sure to include the school, the sport you are playing, and what you plan on majoring in.
I will begin posting photos and congratulatory messages next week on the Voorhees Athletics Twitter account: GO VIKES(@VOO_Athletics)
Signing Day has become a tradition at Voorhees, and I’m all about traditions. One thing I’ve learned over the years is that a sure-fire to lose a tradition is to skip it when circumstances make things inconvenient. We’re not doing that. I love Signing Day, and I think it’s become an important part of our Voorhees Athletics Culture. So there may not be a mass gathering with coaches, family, and cake this year, but there WILL be recognition for each one of you and your pictures WILL be put in that frame outside the gymnasium..
So grab the college gear, print out the letter, get your favorite pen, gather the family, and say, “cheese!”
…and then send me the pictures.
Hope all of you are well, and I can’t tell you how much I miss being at school with you.
Sincerely,
Mr. Baumann
