It is time to begin preparing for the Advanced Placement exams, which will be administered in May. For the 2019 AP exams, all students will be registering online. This registration will take a few minutes and can be completed from any computer with Internet access. This year the cost of each AP exam is $94.00.
Please note that AP Economics has two separate exams, Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, each of which have the $94.00 fee.
Students with documented disabilities may be eligible for accommodations on AP exams. Students may contact their guidance counselor or Mr. Squarcia, Director of School Counseling Services, for more information.
Online exam registration will begin on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 12:01a.m., and end on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 12:01a.m. Although registration is open until February 25, please see the note below regarding late fees incurred when registering after February 22, 2019.
In order to register, students should click on the link provided on the school website or visit www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/310433 to register. To complete registration, students must use their school email address and answer all of the required questions. Registration is not complete until students have printed the PDF of the confirmation page that is provided at the end. We know that parents may desire to register their child for exams, but we strongly recommend that parents and students are both present while registering to ensure that the correct exams are ordered.
As we did last year, this year we are again able to offer families the convenience of paying exam fees online at the time of registration. Please be sure to have a credit card or debit card available before beginning registration. Paying online is a great way to make sure that payment has been made while avoiding mailing payment.
Here are the important dates for the registration process:
- Monday, January 7, 2019 at 12:01a.m.- Registration Begins
- Friday, February 22, 2019 at midnight- Registrations and payments after this date will incur a $10 late fee per exam.
- Monday, February 25, 2019 at 12:01a.m. – Past deadline – registrations and payments after this date will incur a $15 late fee per exam and may only be entered by an administrator.
- Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 11:59p.m. – Registrations that have not been paid for will be cancelled and exams will not be ordered.
Taking the Advanced Placement exams is an important part of all AP courses. Our expectation is that all students take AP exams for each AP class in which they are enrolled. Scoring well on an AP exam can often earn students college credit for their high school class, saving a significant amount on tuition.
As a reminder, full AP course weighting is contingent upon taking the AP exam. Students who take the AP exam for their enrolled AP class will receive the full AP weighting (.50 quality point) for GPA calculations. Students who are enrolled in an AP class but choose not to take the AP exam will receive honors weighting (.35 quality point) for GPA calculations for that course.
Additional information on the Advanced Placement program is available at https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/pdf/ap-student-parent-bulletin-2018-19.pdf.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the AP exam registration process.
