Current Business Course Offerings at Voorhees High School:
- Accounting I & Accounting II (Grades 10-12)
- Accounting I provides the student with a basic understanding of the principles and practices of accounting. Students will be able to analyze and perform the operations necessary in the accounting department for a service business or merchandising business operated as a sole proprietorship or partnership. In addition to learning manual accounting methods students will learn the procedures for converting from a manual to an automated accounting system. Students will be able to perform basic accounting applications on the computer including charts of accounts, general ledger, journal entries, and a trial balance. This course is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in accounting or another related business field. It is a good foundation for those students who wish to continue studying business and accounting at the college level.
- Business and Sports Management (Grades 9-12)
- Business and Sports Management is based on being a future manager. The purpose of this course is to build the student’s understanding of basic management principles and how they are used on a daily basis. We will be using collegiate and professional sports as an example to how management is a critical part of the business world.
- Business Law (Grades 10-12)

This course deals with legal rights as well as with legal duties and responsibilities of individuals in their personal and business transactions. Laws covering contracts, insurance, renting, property ownership and laws which affect teenagers will be studied. Existing statutes, case studies, and current events will be discussed regularly.

- Computer Applications (Grades 9-12)
- Computer Applications is a very valuable course that will help prepare you for a very successful future. Students will learn to confidently utilize a variety of different office software including Microsoft Office 2019, Microsoft Prezi, and Google Office Software. These different facets are crucial in managing today’s world personally and in business settings.
- Entrepreneurship (Grades 11-12)
- The Entrepreneurship course focuses on recognizing a business opportunity and developing the opportunity into a business. The business controlling functions—accounting, finance, marketing, management—as well as legal and economic considerations are applied. Student responsibility and initiative are encouraged as business strategies are created, planned, and presented in a final project—a business plan for an actual business venture. Through the process of developing the business plan, students acquire skills necessary to operate a successful business.
- International Business (Grades 10-12)
- The business world today is immersed in a global economy. Even the smallest of businesses deal with other nations. This course prepares students for today’s business world that provides goods and services worldwide. Students will learn about marketing, customs, currency, import and export and other vital tools for international trade.
- Introduction to Business Marketing (Grades 9-12)

Our Introduction to Business Marketing course will enable the student to learn about the stock market, personnel management, leadership and motivational techniques. This course is a survey of the functions of business, a comparison of the forms or organizations and methods of administration and the interdependence of production, distribution and finance in modern business. This course will be broken into two halves. The first semester will focus on acclimating the students to general business while the second semester almost solely focuses on marketing itself.
