In an attempt to help the traffic moving along Rt. 513 during the busiest time of the morning drop off period, we are instituting a few slight changes to the traffic pattern. You may have noticed as of Friday, 2/17, that members of our Maintenance Crew already extended the white line and added a few arrows along the entrance to clearly delineate that there are 2 lanes to enter the property.
As of Monday, 2/27, we will be instituting the following changes during the 7:25 – 7:45am period:
1. All vehicles (buses and personal vehicles) traveling in the Northbound lane of 513 (from the High Bridge side) will turn right into the right lane of the entrance. These vehicles (represented by the blue and yellow lines in the photo below) will stay in the right lane and proceed in a single lane along the entrance driveway and proceed left at the tennis courts.
– Buses will continue to drop off students along the front curb closest to the school (see yellow line).
– Staff and students with parking permits will enter the parking lot on the tennis court/softball field side (see blue arrows).
– Any students that are being dropped off will exit the vehicle along the curb on the parking lot side of the bus parking/drop off area (see blue line and x).
2. All personal vehicles traveling in the Southbound lane of 513 (from the Califon side) will make a left hand turn into the left lane of the entrance (be mindful of the vehicles traveling in the Northbound lane that are NOT pulling into the school of course). These vehicles will make the left hand turn into the first entrance to the parking lot and drive towards the school (see red line).
– ONLY students with parking permits for the parallel spots in the back should proceed forward to a vacant spot on the left hand side of the back entrance behind the last parked car.
– Staff and students with parking permits will enter the parking lot on the grassy knoll side (see red arrows).
– Cars that are dropping off students are still welcome to form two lines to speed up the drop off process.
– All students that are dropped off are asked to use the designated crosswalk area.
3. All buses traveling in the Southbound lane of 513 (from the Califon side) will make a left hand turn into the right lane of the entrance.
* There will be a member of the Lebanon Township Police Department stopping traffic traveling in the Northbound lane to allow for this to happen in a more timely manner than it has been. This officer will be in a marked vehicle parked on the State Park side of 513 (see white X) and will enter 513 only to stop vehicles in the northbound lane when a bus is present (waiting to turn) in the southbound lane.
– Buses will continue to drop off students along the front curb closest to the school (see yellow line).
The hope is that these simple changes will help the flow of traffic in the Southbound lane of 513 therefore speeding up the drop off process each morning. During the 7:25 – 7:45 time frame, we ask that you please remain in the designated lanes to allow for a steadier flow of traffic. As always, please drive slowly and beware of all pedestrians and other vehicles once on school property.
