The Voorhees High School FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) Chapter earned 4 Gold Medals, 3 Silver Medals and 2 Bronze Medals at the 2014 FCCLA State Leadership Conference on Friday, March 21, 2014 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Voorhees High School was also awarded the Membership Award for its increase in membership.
Students won medals in all four STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) events in which they competed. The Voorhees students who won medals were: Meg Asai and Grace Borsetti – 1st Place Gold Medal in Promote and Publicize FCCLA; Maria Costa and Dana Christensen – 3rd Place Gold Medal in Focus on Children; Rachel Garcia and Kyra Wyllie – 2nd Place Silver Medal in Chapter Showcase Display; Jessica Haspel – 3rd Place Silver Medal in Illustrated Talk; and Marissa Barradale and Kavaughna Henry – 2nd Place Bronze Medal in National Programs in Action/Dynamic Leadership.
Six of the students are eligible to compete in the National FCCLA Conference this summer in San Antonio, Texas, including Meg Asai, Marissa Barradale, Grace Borsetti, Rachel Garcia, Kavaughna Henry and Kyra Wyllie.
