- La Société Honoraire de Français is a national honor society sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French to recognize the achievements of outstanding French students. The North Hunterdon High School French Honor Society, Section De Tocqueville, was founded in 1972, becoming the first language honor society at NHHS. Induction requirements: a student must have received a grade of “A” for two years in French, and a “B” average in all other subjects and meet other national requirements. The club meets bi-weekly on Thursdays at 2:30 PM or as announced for special activities. Inductions are held in the fall and spring for students who have become eligible for membership. The club serves as a leadership organization for French Week in November. Special projects include serving as a steering committee for French Immersion Day and the French Day of World Language Week. The French Honor Society’s motto: “La personne qui sait deux langues en vaut deux”; means “the person who knows two languages is worth two.”
